I have been a dedicated karate professional for 45 years, with a career in karate of 55 years
Founder, President & Chief Instructor of the British Karate-Do Chojinkai Association (BKC) a ‘Wado Ryu based style’ karate group, more identified as ‘Chojinkai Karate’
My main role is conducting Master classes, Senior gradings, Residential courses, Organising championships, Club visits, Overseeing the running & maintaining high technical standards within Chojinkai Karate.
Since its inception in 1974 & under my direction, my clubs/association have produced over 250 Dan Grades, the Senior Dan grades being my own direct students.
Many years a Member & Director of English Karate GB (Committees & Board) – 1990’s through to 2000’s
National Official 1983 to 2009 – English & British Referee Commission 1990 to 2009.
European Kumite Official 1986 to 2007 – European Regions Referee Commission Member 2003 to 2006,
World Kumite Official 1992 to 2007 – retired after officiating at over 50 International Championships
Successful Open Competition promoter for over 45 years – Northern, Newcastle, British Grand Prix, along with the renowned Cumbria Open now in its 46th year & Children’s Open in its 16th year.
1986 & 2002 Produced a series of Instructional Video/DVD’s on Wado Ryu Karate.
1988 Co-founded VMA International, a Video/DVD production company specialising in Karate & producing over 100 titles through to 2003, featuring many World Karateka & other Martial Arts disciplines/instructors.
1989 VMA were appointed the official WUKO (WKF) championship producers, covering all European & World Events for a decade from Mexico World Champs 1990 through to Istanbul European Champs in 2000.
2004 Appointed Special Advisor by the SKGB Chairman to the Scotland Referees Commission.
2009 Award presentation @ British Championships from BKF President on his domestic referee retirement – ‘remembered for outstanding achievements, in the development of refereeing within British Karate.’
2014 Certificate of Appreciation from WKF President ‘in recognition of over 20 years of excellence in refereeing – Loyal dedication to the growth & development of WKF Karate Do.’
1st/2nd Dan grading taken by the BKA Panel – 3rd Dan the TKK Panel. 4th Dan to 8th Dan awarded by the Governing Body with certificates issued by WUKO/WKF. 9th Dan awarded by the Board of the EKF in 2022.
